The textbook: Thinking in Java (4th Edition) by Bruce Eckel, Prentice Hall, 2006. (Note, the first few chapters are a free download and used copies are cheap.)
The programming language: Java.
Java was developed by Sun Microsystems, since purchased by Oracle. Oracle provides a huge web site including everything from tutorial material to downloads.
