Asad Mahmood

I am a PhD student in the department of Computer Science at the The University of Iowa. I am advised by Dr. Padmini Srinivasan and co-advised by Dr. Zubair Shafiq from The University of Iowa. My research is focused on using Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning techniques to achieve user online privacy (Authorship Obfuscation). Previously, I worked at TPI Lab in LUMS under the supervision of Dr. Fareed Zaffar

Projects

Watermark Identification:

Built a Machine Learning Pipeline using python, scikit-learn SVM and Neural Networks to detect certain companies Watermarks in images.


Detecting Child Unsafe Content in Videos:

Worked with a team to design and develop a deep learning pipeline leveraging multiple features of a video to detect child unsafe videos i.e videos containing explicit or violent content.


Football Data Analysis:

Derived several Spatiotemporal features from the football games dataset using SQL for developing an adversarial model to provide managers with valuable insights about team’s performance.


Spam Ads Detection:

Built a statistical tool for OLX Pakistan, using python and scikit-learn implementation of clustering techniques to help users post better ads and help the company in combating ads containing spam.
